Blockages can occur in many ways. The most common of which are items such as wet wipes, baby wipes, kitchen roll and toilet smellies that are accidentally flushed down the toilet. These objects can block in the rear of your toilet outlet or in some cases even flush into the underground sewage pipes. Sink and shower plugs can also block which can sometimes be linked to toilet blockages that back up and flood into your shower tray or sink – but the most common cause of sink plug and shower blockages is human hair which sticks inside the smaller internal waste pipes.
All these blockage issues can be resolved by our emergency plumbing team. We have all the up-to-date equipment such as high pressure water jetters, drain auger drills, sink and toilet plunger tools and even CCTV inspection camera units used to investigate the cause of your blocked drain problems. We also have HGV suction tankers for the large scale blocked drains such as flooded basements or overflowing manhole chambers. The HGV suction tankers can suck out all the waste allowing us to locate the cause of the problem, and even jet away the blockage. There are many reasons why underground drains may need to be inspected using drain CCTV camera equipment. The most common reason is to identify faults in sewer systems which are causing the blockage. Once an issue has been identified we can then locate the exact position of the defect and how deep underground this fault is using sonar scanning devices. With all the information gathered, we can accurately diagnose not just the cause, but the method of repair and the exact price needed to resolve the issue permanently.
We also offer a new home buyers drain survey report. This involves a visit by one of our skilled drainage engineers to inspect the condition of all accessible drains on a property when you are looking to complete a property purchase. This report and the information gathered are recorded both on video and picture format and come with a computerised report which is sent directly to your email address. This gives you a clear understanding of the drainage system you are inheriting and could possibly save you hundreds of pounds by identifying faults in a drainage system before you complete your purchase.
When problems have been identified, usually after blocked drain issues occur, there are various methods of drain repairs we can carry out. The most common of which is excavation repair works – the most common being a collapsed section of pipe or a buried access cover which needs to be reinstated in order to clear a blockage. WD Drain Services has highly skilled drainage engineers to assist regardless of the reason and our engineers have seen a wide variety of drain problems, all of which we can help you.
In some cases we may be able to repair faults in pipes without the need of excavation. This involves fitting fibreglass stents in the location of a fault and creating a new pipe inside the old one. This method is more commonly known in the industry as a ‘no dig patch repair’. No dig patch repair is very popular as there is minimal disruption and no mess – and a patch repair can usually be completed in 1 hour 30 mins from start to finish. A big plus with patch repairs is that we can access locations that you would rather not excavate e.g. under internal floors inside your home or under your brand new press concrete driveway – areas you simply don’t want to damage. We will carry out repairs on the faults located and once completed you would never know we had been there. These patches once fitted are ready for you to use immediately making this method of drain repair the preferred choice.
Often blocked drains are caused by tree root intrusion. This is when roots from trees or other vegetation enter your underground drains through displaced pipe joints or by crushing the outer pipe and growing through the broken section. Once they have gained entry to your pipes they can then grow throughout the system and if left over time can completely block your pipes and result in major drain blockage issues. Here at WD Drain Services we specialise in removing the roots by using various methods and equipment. Our most successful method is with the use of a tool we call a Warthog jet cutting head. This clever piece of equipment has been designed to cut out any intruding roots and descale the internal pipe walls to restore your pipe’s ability to allow waste to flow through your sewer system as normal. Once the roots are removed, we can also fit fibreglass stents in the location the roots have entered the pipe to stop any future issues with tree roots growing back from the same location.
